For about two months now, when I have ran out of ideas on what to write, I turn to Mr. Graf. And for about two months now, no matter what new ideas Mr. Graf comes up with our conversations have always ended the same. His brilliant idea of “The Brink Of Music”, just like a boomerang, it always comes back. Well, this must be Graf’s lucky day, because today marks the day I finally write that article. It may not be everything Graf has wished for, but may I present to you my interpretation of “The Brink Of Music”. This one’s for you Graf.
Shallow – Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper
This song is currently number one on Billboard’s Top 100 for the week of March 9th, 2019. It has been on the chart for 22 weeks now and is most commonly known to be performed in the movie “A Star Is Born”. It has received many huge awards including an Academy and Golden Globe award for best original song. For me, I like the song and wouldn’t change stations if it were to come on the radio, however, I don’t have it on any of my playlist and don’t have any plans to. I haven’t seen the movie “A Star Is Born”, so I don’t get any emotional connection I think other people would. It is a very pretty song, but not my favorite.
7 Rings – Ariana Grande
For the past five weeks, this song remained at the number one spot, until this week when “Shallow” bumped it down to second. The twenty five year old had released five studio albums, four EP’s, one remix album, and forty one singles. This song may sound very familiar because it is sampled from The Sound Of Music’s “My Favorite Things”. When I first heard this song I didn’t think it was bad at all, but certainly didn’t love it either. Up until I listened to it again for this article, I would avoid listening to it because I didn’t find it special in any way, and preferred other songs over it. I usually love Ariana’s music and appreciate the visual effects and creativity of her music videos, but this song missed the mark for me, and I didn’t even bother with the video.
Without Me – Halsey
This song takes the third spot on Billboard’s top 100, and has been on the chart for 21 weeks. The music video has one hundred and forty one views on Youtube, and still continues to gain recognition. Halsey has also collabed with Khalid and Benny Blanco on their song “Eastside” which takes the 12th spot on the chart, and has claimed a spot on the chart for thirty three weeks. Out of these three songs, I would say the “Without Me” would be my favorite. I don’t hear it very often, but know a good amount of the lyrics. It is pretty catchy and if it came on the radio, I wouldn’t have any complains. It isn’t my favorite song by any means, but I think Halsey has a very strong, beautiful voice.
