Woodland Park has a Magical Day Against Summit

Mac McClintock, Editor

Woodland Park’s Basketball program had a very special day. Both the girls and guys team won against Summit. The girls team improved to 2-0, which matches their win total from last year. The way they did it was by just absolutely dominating Summit. They got out to a quick 10-1 lead and basically coasted from there. The final score of the game would be, 52-30. There next game is December 6th, at home against Pueblo County.

As far as the boys team they broke a historically long streak when they beat Summit by a score of 69-62. Before today the last time Woodland Park had won a home game was January 8th, 2014. When asked about what breaking the streak meant senior Sam Levy said, “All we can do is focus on winning every possession in every game! The streak is irrelevant! We focus on what we can control and take it one game at a time!.” To the Panthers credit they did exactly that. The game was tied 31-31 going into halftime, then when the third quarter came around Josh Bodin caught fire from behind the three point line and gave Woodland Park a lead they would hold through the rest of the game. The Panthers next game is also December 6th, but on the road at Pueblo County.
